Rhiannon to receive the Annie McNulty Award

The Roscommon People sponsored Annie McNulty Award will be presented to Rhiannon Giddens at a special floor show at Paddy Finn’s in Kilteevan on Sunday afternoon.

Rhiannon, from North Carolina, is the co-founder of the Grammy Award-winning string band Carolina Chocolate Drops. She began gaining international recognition as a solo artist when she stole the show at the T Bone Burnett-produced ‘Another Day, Another Time’ concert (see also article on page 26).

All festival guests and visiting singers will be in attendance. Before the floor show there will be a short visit to the old Burke homestead in Kilteevan, birthplace of Annie McNulty, the matriarch of the famous entertainment group of New York from the late 1920s to the 1950s, The McNulty Family. There will be a little chat and a couple of songs there to her memory.
