An impressive four finalists comprising of local groups, sports clubs, community projects and organisations from Roscommon were recently announced as County Winners in the National Lottery Good Causes Awards 2023.
Initiatives recognised at the awards include Ballydangan Red Grouse Project, which is regarded as one of Ireland’s best practice examples demonstrating community-based conservation in Ireland and Ballaghaderreen Men’s Shed, a community-based project, where men can come together to learn, share skills and make long-lasting friendships together.
The awards aim to honour, showcase and celebrate the inspiring work being carried out nationwide by thousands of projects, clubs and individuals who have received support from Good Causes funding. Nearly 30 cents of every euro spent on National Lottery games goes back to Good Causes all over the country.
The four County Winners of the National Lottery Good Causes Awards from Roscommon are Strokestown United Football Club (for sport), Ballaghaderreen Men’s Shed (for health and wellbeing), Roscommon Young Carers Project from Vita House (for youth), and Ballydangan Red Grouse Project (for heritage).
This year’s event will take place on Saturday, October 21st 2023 in Killashee House Hotel, Naas, Co. Kildare.
