Renowned Castlecoote pub on the market

News of the impending sale of the landmark Cattigan’s public house in Castlecoote has generated considerable interest throughout the locality. The pub is a renowned hostelry that has a long history of service to the people of Castlecoote, Fuerty, Donamon and Kilbegnet.  Cattigan’s comes on the market this week via local auctioneer Ivan Connaughton. The bar and lounge, which has boasted excellent trading figures for several decades, is closely linked to local community and sporting organisations, and has been owned by a number of families since it was first built. The current owners are JJ & Carol Cattigan. JJ played football for Roscommon in the 1980s and early 1990s. The Golden family owned the popular pub for a number of decades. The bar/lounge occupies an area of 1,400 square feet and is in excellent condition. There is a large beer garden to the rear and there is plenty of room for further development of a restaurant or B&B. The five-bedroom residence adjacent is in immaculate condition and was recently redecorated. Cattigan’s is a prime licensed premises that benefits from strong local custom and from very extensive passing trade. It is situated on an important t-junction that links the R366 Roscommon-Glenamaddy national secondary route to the Castlecoote-Donamon road.
