Status Red wind warning for Roscommon tonight

This afternoon Met Eireann issued a status red level weather warning for wind for County Roscommon.

The weather warning says:

Extremely gusty on Sunday night and early Monday due to Storm Debi with potential danger to life.

Possible impacts:

– Damage to exposed and vulnerable structures

– Disruption to services and transport

– Significant power outages

– Fallen trees/branches

The warning comes into effect from 3 a.m. on Monday, November 13th and is valid until 5 a.m

The National Directorate for Emergency and Fire Management (NDFEM) has also advised schools that are situated in Red and Orange weather alert areas, including Roscommon, to stay closed until 10 am on Monday.

School managers at local level have been asked to advise parents of any disruption to school services.
