IFA Countryside Chairman David Wilkinson reminded people living in the countryside with large gardens or farms that they could save upwards of €100 per year in bin charges by recycling organic waste at home. Mr Wilkinson said, ‘Many families living in the countryside are spending substantial sums of money in disposing of organic waste in bins when instead it can be of benefit to a farm/garden.’ He added, ‘Organic waste can easily be recycled safely to be used on your garden/farm or on a neighbour’s garden if you do not have use for all your waste.’ Mr Wilkinson concluded, ‘Families that practise this could reduce the amount they put into their bin and therefore the price of waste collected and I encourage all families to strongly consider recycling such waste at home.’
