RBK celebrates fifty years

Fifty years in business is certainly something to celebrate and Russell Brennan Keane, Chartered Accountants, did that in style with a gala function on Friday 6th June in the new Sheraton Hotel Athlone.   Marking the firm’s golden anniversary, Liam Rattigan, Chief Executive, announced a new scholarship to the MBA Programme in Athlone Institute of Technology in memory of the late founding Partner of the Firm, Paddy Russell. ‘It’s particularly important for Russell Brennan Keane to launch the Paddy Russell, RBK Masters in Business Administration Scholarship Award. In the early stages of what was then the Athlone Regional Technical College Paddy Russell was a member and for some years Chairman of the Board of Directors and it is a fitting memorial to the larger than life character we miss and remember with great fondness.’ In conjunction with the gala function, funds were raised in aid of the South Westmeath Hospice Foundation where donations from guests were matched by the firm. Added encouragement to dig deep into pockets for donations came from the evenings MC comedian Neil Delamere and some very generous prizes kindly donated by clients of the firm: Liam Mulryan, Mulryan Auctioneers, Galway; The Galway Bay Hotel; Jim Keane and family and Russell Brennan Keane. Prize winners included Mary Croughan, Croughans Centra; Seamus and Dympna Hayes, Musicworld; Pat Ward, Western Automation, Ballinasloe and Brian Russell. ‘We’ve had a fantastic 50 years due to the support we get from the business and wider community and of course our clients. We would love to have our 2,000 clients all in the room but unfortunately logistically that was not possible.  I’m delighted to announce that our clients and supporters kindly coughed up €8,690 on the night through generous donations which Russell Brennan Keane will match bringing the total raised to €17,380 for the very deserving South Westmeath Hospice Foundation,’ said Liam Rattigan. Russell Brennan Keane was founded in 1958 by Tipperary native Paddy Russell in Church Street, Athlone Co Westmeath. The practice has grown substantially over the last five decades to now being a thriving national business advisory and accounting practice ranked 9th nationally.
