The Rahara Homecoming Festival takes place this weekend (12th-14th August) with a large number of events planned.
The weekend’s events will commence with our ‘Historic Book’ launch, ‘Rahara a Century of Memories’ on Friday night at 8.30 pm in the marquee on the grounds of Rahara NS. Comhaltas will provide entertainment. Everyone is welcome to this free event.
The Family Fun Day takes place in Clover Park from 1 pm-4 pm on Saturday. This promises to be a great fun day with bouncing castles, soccer games, face painting, egg and spoon races, sack races and much more.
On Saturday night, the Homecoming Buffet will take place in the marquee. Doors open at 8 pm with a buffet served at 8.30 pm, followed by entertainment by the very popular local band, Vinegar Bill. Tickets are limited so it is strongly advised to purchase beforehand to avoid disappointment. They cost €15 each and can be purchased from Bernie at 086-6014024.
The Annual Cemetery Mass takes place on Sunday at 2 pm in the graveyard. This will be followed by a guided tour of the old cemetery by historian Willie Gacquin.
There will be a Farewell Party in the marquee later, with light refreshments served. This promises to be a very enjoyable weekend so make sure you get to Rahara to join in the festivities!
