Radio project to be repeated

A radio series which resulted from a north midlands community arts project is currently being repeated on Shannonside every week.  ‘Tall Tales from the Hollows and Hills’ is a series of eight radio plays which resulted from the community arts project. The plays featured almost 40 new and experienced actors from the border region and were broadcast on radio in late December. They were written by talented people from the border region who attended four ‘Writing for Radio’ classes given by Kevin McCann, Director of Maccana Teoranta. Classes were held in Carrick-on-Shannon, Belturbet, Castleblayney, Armagh, Dungannon and Enniskillen. Over 45 new writers of all ages from nine border counties attended the course with many of them crossing the border to attend which was one of the aims of the course. The award-winning series of plays are repeated on Shannonside/Northern Sound every Tuesday at 6 pm for the next three weeks. The first play on Tuesday, April 1st was ‘The Auld Disgust’ by Rooskey man Wayne Denniston which starred local men Ciaran Fay, Pajo Kennedy and Noel McGovern.
