Progress on Ballygar water – Connolly

Galway County Councillor Michael Connolly has welcomed major progress in getting an additional water supply for Ballygar.             A section of piping from Newbridge water scheme has been handed over to Galway County Council which will allow the council to take water from Mountbellew to Ballygar.             ‘This will give Ballygar the opportunity to develop and prosper. Ballygar is number one in Galway County Council’s assessment of needs for water.   This will allow Galway County Council lay a new section of pipe from John Nancy’s Cross to Ballygar.’             Councillor Michael Connolly, Chairman of the Rural Monitoring Committee, states that he will work to ensure that this work is done without delay. ‘A lot of major planning applications were held up in Ballygar owing to lack of water capacity. This will now give Ballygar a competitive edge to compete with other areas in County Galway in securing future development and investment.’
