Cllr. Orla Leyden has welcomed the completion of the new carpark at Roscommon Community Sports Park, Lisnamult. She said that the car park is another important milestone in the project and greatly enhances the facility.
Phase 1 saw the development of a floodlit Astro Turf pitch with the support of Roscommon LEADER Partnership and local fundraising and a long-term lease secured from Roscommon County Council.
With the carpark now complete, Cllr. Leyden, chairperson of Roscommon Community Sports Park, said: “A Sports Capital Grant application has been made for the development of dressing rooms, toilets and showers at the facility. The dressing rooms and toilets are required to facilitate greater usage of the AstroTurf pitch.”
Cllr. Leyden thanked the committee for their continued commitment to the project and Roscommon County Council, Roscommon Municipal District Fund 2016 for financial assistance towards the car park.
Cllr. Leyden acknowledged the co-operative approach of Lisnamult Residents Association and support for the development of what is a fantastic community sports park for all the community in Roscommon.
Cllr. Leyden concluded by saying that the Community Astro Turf pitch is in great demand and is “ideal for clubs, schools and groups of friends to hire.”
