Seán Ó Neachtain MEP was guest speaker at the recent meeting of Kilkerrin Branch IFA. Seán gave an overview of his work in the European Parliament. He spoke of the current issues concerning rural and agricultural communities, including the INTO negotiations, CAP, the Lisbon Treaty and turf cutting under the Habitats Directive. Seán was asked to assist in having the Farm Waste Management Scheme deadline extended past December 2008 and help get the REPS 4 payments issue resolved. The Branch would like to thank all who supported the Social on Friday 29th February. Thanks to the ticket sellers, business people who generously sponsored spot prizes, to the McNulty family, Kathleen Mee and staff for their hospitality and excellent food served on the night. Congratulations to Padraic Divilly on completion of 12 years as National Chairman on various committees. A presentation was made to Padraic on the night.
