Preferred site identified for Ballaghaderreen Primary Care Centre

A preferred site has been identified for the proposed new Primary Care Centre in Ballaghaderreen, with the HSE aiming to complete its acquisition before the end of this year.

The HSE confirmed that the site evaluation and assessment process has concluded and that a recommendation has been submitted to its Property Review Group.

Approval is now being sought to allow the HSE to enter into negotiations with the owner of the preferred site.

The update was provided in response to questions submitted by Cllrs Seán Moylan and Valerie Duffy to the Regional Health Forum West and North West.

Cllr Moylan asked the HSE to provide a clear timeline for the development, including when a site would be ready for acquisition and when preliminary plans could be presented.

Cllr Duffy also sought confirmation that a site had been identified and asked for an indicative timeline for delivery of the centre.

In response, the HSE said it would be in a position to provide indicative timelines once the necessary approvals had been received.

“The aim would be to have a site acquired before the end of 2026, subject to a positive outcome from the negotiations with the landowner,” Assistant National Director of Capital and Estates N Colleary stated.

The response does not identify the preferred location or provide a projected opening date for the new centre.
