
Hundreds of homes and businesses across County Roscommon are currently without power due to the heavy thunder and lightning storm that is passing over the county. Flash flooding has also been reported in some towns and villages.
Met Eireann have forecast thunder, lightning and heavy downpours until approximately 10pm tonight as the storm moves towards the north-west of the province.
According to the Met Eireann website it will be “warm and muggy tonight with any remaining heavy showers dying out early in the night. Dry for the rest of the night with some clear spells but there will be mist and fog patches also. Temperatures will dip no lower than 13 to 16 Celsius in light easterly or variable breezes.”
The forecast for tomorrow is as follows:
Very warm or hot on Wednesday with spells of hazy sunshine. Mist or fog may linger near the west coast into the afternoon. Dry at first but scattered heavy or thundery downpours will develop during the afternoon and evening with some hail and spot flooding possible. Top temperatures of 22 to 27 Celsius generally in light to moderate southeast breezes. Sea breezes will develop locally, and it will be cooler near some coasts.
