Pop enchantress in the Dock

Pop enchantress Nina Hynes and French musician Fabien Leseure are set to captivate audiences at The Dock in Carrick-on-Shannon on Friday 9th November as part of a nationwide tour. Nominated for ‘Best Female’ in the Meteor Awards 2003, singer songwriter Nina is one of the most acclaimed performers on the Dublin circuit.  She has performed on over twenty compilations, soundtracks and releases and has collaborated a broad range of artists from The Frames to experimental French composer Hector Zazou, Brian Eno and hip hop outfit Messiah J and the Expert. Actress and singer, Jane Birkin ("Je t’aime") has recently covered a song of Nina’s on a collaboration album with Hector Zazou.  Hynes has been playing with recorded sound, piano and guitar and writing songs from a young age and her solo shows often incorporate live-layering and sampling using guitar pedals, spoons and whatever is at hand.  Her first solo release was "Creation" (1999) and her subsequent album "Staros’ in 2002 received critical acclaim in Ireland and the US.  In 2006 her song ‘Universal’ was in the final 50 out of 15,000 entries in the most prestigious and largest songwriting competition in the US.  Nina has just released her new album ‘Really Really Do’ with her band The Husbands, so don’t miss this chance to hear this queen of quirky pop accompanied by French musician Fabien Leseure, in an intimate cabaret style setting at The Dock on Friday 9th November.
