‘Play for Paul’ at Western Gaels this Sunday

The ‘Play for Paul’ charity match in memory of Paul Higgins will be held in Western Gaels’ GAA grounds in Frenchpark this Sunday (4th) at 3 pm.

The late Paul Higgins from Ballinagare, Co. Roscommon sadly passed away on April 19th after a fifteen year battle with cancer. He was an inspiration and an influential figure in his personal life and also on the pitch.

He played for his club team Western Gaels, represented Roscommon at U-21 level and also captained Erin go Bragh in Birmingham. Paul is survived by his wife Maggie and children Amie, Katie, Jack and Ryan.

This Sunday’s match will feature over 30s against under 30s and the players will include current and past county stars such as Fintan Cregg, Sean McDermott, Cathal and Nigel Dineen, Ciaran Cafferky, Cathal Shine and Kevin Higgins.

This promises to be a great day out with underage teams playing at half-time and entertainment for the whole family on the day. Proceeds will go towards the Mater Oncology Ward.

A follow-up after-party and monster raffle (tickets available in local shops and also on the day) will be held in The Chariot Bar in Frenchpark starting at 9 pm.
