Thinking of booking your summer holiday, or any break in 2008 for that matter? Then there’s a glorious opportunity for you to save hundreds of euro this weekend! The place to be this weekend for all sun-seeking holiday-makers is the Hodson Bay Hotel, Athlone, where brilliant bargains can be obtained. The event is being hosted by ‘Great Escapes,’ a leading Travel company who are based in Swinford, Co. Mayo. Great Escapes, in association with local travel agents Trikon Travel and East West Travel, are holding a massive one-day SALE in the Hodson Bay Hotel on this Saturday (23 rd of February) from 10 am to 5 pm. Anyone booking a holiday on the day will get a TEN PERCENT reduction, meaning for example that some families could save up to several hundred euro! Patricia Ronane of Great Escapes told the Roscommon People that there’s a 10% discount on all winter and summer destinations on their books, namely Lanzarote, Crete, Salou and Portugal. ‘If people book on Saturday from any of our four representatives they will get a 10% discount, and ALL flights are from Ireland West Airport (Knock). Also because we charter the plans and select the accommodation ourselves people know that they are booking with people who have first-hand knowledge of the destination and the accommodation.’ Patricia set up her Swinford-based business in 2002 after previously running a Travel Agency in Moate. She returned to her native Swinford and set up Mayo Travel. Patricia switched her business from Travel Agency to tour operator in 2003 and renamed it Great Escapes over a year ago. There are now five staff in all there and a new destination is added each year. ‘We are the only such tour operators West of the Shannon’ Patricia told the Roscommon People. ‘Thankfully business has been very good. We have a popular website and we aim to please. We charter the planes ourselves and I personally view and select the accommodation in our chosen destinations. ‘Bookings for January 2008 were up 60% on the previous January. I think after last year’s bad summer people decided they wouldn’t wait any longer, because holidays were booked up last year when they went looking at the last-minute. By booking now you get the best places and at good value too.’ Great Escapes began hosting one-day sales last year and are expanding the service in 2008. So far, demand for holidays has been ‘phenomenal’ this year. Patricia and her staff are looking forward to meeting the public in the Hodson Bay Hotel on Saturday and they will be delighted to deal with all enquiries. * Payment of a small deposit on Saturday will entitle those booking holidays to their discount.
