News that planning permission has been granted for an extension to Whitehall NS, Tarmonbarry, was welcomed this week by local Independent councillor, Tom Crosby.             ‘Funding of over €400,000 has been made available for the essential works which will include demolishing the existing tower, extending the classrooms and refurbishing the sanitary services. Cllr. Crosby complimented the Principal Julie Breathnach, the teachers and Board of Management for their commitment to this project. He also thanked a local landowner for facilitating the necessary services in order to obtain planning permission which was granted recently. ‘Works will commence in the coming months and will be of great benefit to local area as presently the school is full to capacity.’             Cllr.
