Pat’s Special Olympics fund-raiser a success

The recent fund-raising night held in The Widow Pat’s, Knockcroghery as a Special Olympics World Games fund-raiser was a success.    The night was organised for local man Pat Hurley, who is travelling to the Games in China later this year to work as a volunteer.    Pat told the Roscommon People that he was delighted with the attendance on the night. He is well on his way to meeting his fund-raising target but needs to attract some further support and would appreciate any assistance in this regard over the coming weeks.   It is understood that some further fund-raising is planned and the public’s support would be greatly appreciated. There are some athletes from County Roscommon participating in the Games while Pat will operate as one of the many helpers.    A draw was held on the night and the following were the results: First prize (€500) won by Mary Brennan, Roscommon town (ticket drawn by former athlete Paddy Keaney). Second prize (€250) won by Justin Brennan, Kilmore, Lecarrow (ticket drawn by Paddy Keaney). Third prize (€150) won by Ruth O’Brien, Ballintubber (ticket drawn by Mary Keaney). Fourth prize (€100) won by Patrick Brady, Foxford, Co. Mayo (ticket drawn by Margaret Hurley).
