Over €500,000 for childcare in County Roscommon

Government Deputy for Roscommon/South Leitrim Michael Finneran, Chairman of the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Finance and Public Service has been informed by his colleague Brendan Smith T.D. Minister for Children that his Department has allocated the sum of €405,000 for Childcare facilities in County Roscommon. The news has been welcomed by Deputy Finneran and by his Oireachtas colleague, Senator Terry Leyden.       Deputy Finneran stated: ‘The following are the successful applicants for this capital funding from the Department of Health & Children: St. John’s National School Pre School, Lecarrow, Co. Roscommon, €175,000; Read Centre Childcare, Lisnamult, Roscommon, €130,000; Step by Step All Day Care Centre, Corrigeenroe, Boyle, €100,000; Wonder Years Pre School, Curnafulla, Athlone, €100,000.   ‘The funding will ensure that childcare services will be able to provide the highest level of service and facilities at these locations for County Roscommon. Almost €11 million has been allocated to childcare in County Roscommon from Fianna Fáil led Governments in recent years’    ‘The provision of childcare is now one of the greatest burdens facing many young parents and I welcome this announcement by Minister Smith’ concluded Michael Finneran T.D.
