Community spirit is alive and well in Strokestown Golf Club with a turnout of 110 golfers (despite the mixed weather) over the May Bank Holiday weekend.
The format was an open competition and it received great support from local members and participants from other clubs.
The event was organised to raise funds for children in Ukraine and all proceeds went to the UNICEF Humanitarian Aid for Children (HAC) in Ukraine.
The organisers are grateful to all the various sponsors who so willingly came on board to support the event, to the local businesses who donated prizes, and to the golfers who participated in what was a very successful and enjoyable event.
Over €5,300 was raised in total through sponsorship and the golf over the weekend.
A large number of prizes were on offer. The Men’s competition was won by Eamon Beirne with 44 points with Martina Feehily heading the field in the Ladies competition with 34 points.
