Castlerea’s Aoife O’Rourke takes to the ring again this evening for her quarter-final bout against Swedish boxer Love Holgersson in this year’s European games.

O’Rourke, who hails from Tarmon in Castlerea, defeated Cindy Djankeu Ngamba by split decision yesterday evening to secure her place in the last eight of the competition.

If Aoife is victorious this evening she will guarantee herself at least a European bronze medal but she will need to win her semi-final bout to guarantee herself a place in next year’s Olympics in Paris, which, if she progresses this evening, will take place on Friday the 30th.

The evening session begins at 5pm with Aoife fighting in Bout 7 in Ring B. You can watch the fight live by clicking the link – https://europeangames.tv/sports/boxing
