Orkambi breakthrough welcomed by politicians

Local politicians have welcomed the news that an agreement has been reached ‘in principle’ between the HSE and Vertex on a price for the cystic fibrosis drugs Orkambi and Kalydeco.

  Health Minister Simon Harris has indicated that the drugs could become available to patients from next month.

  Deputy Michael Fitzmaurice and Senator Frank Feighan both welcomed the apparent breakthrough.
