Oran recorded their second win in the Hodson Bay SFC when they had five points to spare against St Faithleach’s in Kilbride on Sunday. Pat Regan’s side led by 0-8 to 0-2 after 16 minutes, but Faithleach’s battled back and trailed by just one point at half-time, 0-8 to 0-7.
Oran were much the better side in the second half, however, and pulled away to secure a 0-18 to 0-13 victory.
In Enfield, two goals from Shane McGinley proved crucial as Strokestown pipped Michael Glavey’s by two points, 2-19 to 3-14. Strokestown led by 1-7 to 0-8 at half-time and stretched that advantage to eight points as the game entered injury time. Two very late goals from Glavey’s narrowed the gap to just two, but Strokestown survived to claim the win.
In Kiltoom, Roscommon Gaels staged a stunning second-half comeback to pip Clann na nGael in a thrilling encounter. Clann were in total control in the opening half and led by 1-13 to 1-5 at the break.
The town side were transformed after the restart and, aided by a Rory Carthy goal and two-pointers from Peter Gilooly and Richard Walsh, edged out their old rivals in the closing minutes.
Final score: Roscommon Gaels 2-17, Clann na nGael 1-18.
In the McNulty Furniture IFC St Dominic’s defeated St Brigid’s by 6-16 to 2-14 while St Michael’s pipped Creggs by 2-14 to 1-16.
