Roscommon Town girl, Olivia Costello, was narrowly beaten in play-off for the Connacht Women’s Open Golf Championships on Thursday.
The 14-year-old shot to the top of the leaderboard after she carded a sensational course record 9 under par round of 65 on day two.
In the final group, the championship became a duel between the Roscommon girl and Irish International Katie Poots from Belfast.
Both players ended their final round on 9 under and in the first play-off hole Poots holed a 25-foot putt to take the title as Olivia Costello could only manage a par.
So disappointment for the Roscommon girl but it was another brilliant performance from her as she goes from strength to strength in the women’s game.
