Olivia Costello set to represent Ireland in Canada

Roscommon Town golfer Olivia Costello has been selected on a three-member Irish team to contest the World Junior Girls Golf Championship in Ontario, Canada, later this month.

Irish Girls champion Olivia has been chosen alongside this year’s Women’s Order of Merit winner Hannah Lee McNamara of Royal Portrush and West of Ireland champion Ella Cantwell of Esker Hills.

The championship will feature a 72-hole stroke play tournament, with both individual and team competitions. Play gets underway on September 30.

Before making the trip to Canada, the trio will compete at the French International Women’s Amateur Championship this week.

The 54-hole stroke play event takes place at Golf de Morfontaine in France, with the opening round getting underway on Thursday morning.
