Member of Ógra Fianna Fáil in Roscommon and former Chairman of that organisation, Ivan Connaughton, was among those delighted by this week’s appointment of Michael Finneran as Minister of State at the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government, with special responsibility for Housing, Urban Renewal and Developing Areas. ‘I’m delighted that he got the appointment, he was very instrumental in getting Brian Cowen down to open my office in Athleague, he organised that. ‘In relation to Ógra, he supported any effort we had, while at the same time giving us our own space. He supported any function we had and organised trips to Dáil Éireann twice, where he met us and took us around.’ Achievement He added: ‘It is a great achievement for Michael and it is well deserved after all his hard work on behalf of the people of Roscommon. It’s also great for the people of south Roscommon where he came from.’
