ICSA President Malcolm Thompson has said that under no circumstances could ICSA accept any further cuts in the Single Farm Payment. ‘Already farmers have suffered a five percent modulation cut to fund RD schemes, but there has been very little evidence of innovative, new ideas coming from Europe that will help either farmers or broader rural development objectives. We must not be dictated to by the anti – farmer agenda of the UK government, especially given its disastrous record in supporting and protecting its own farmers.’
