Uisce Éireann appeals to customers to conserve water
Uisce Éireann is working to restore normal water supply to customers on the Castlerea Public Water Supply following power outages caused by Storm Isha.
Power has been restored to Castlerea Water Treatment Plant, but some customers are expected to continue to experience water outages and low pressure until the network fully recharges. This could take up to 24 hours.
In the meantime, night time restrictions will be implemented from 7 pm this evening, Tuesday, January 23rd to 7 am tomorrow morning, Wednesday, January 24th to ensure customers have a daytime supply. As a result of the restrictions, customers on the Castlerea Public Water Supply may experience reduced pressure and/or outages.
Ger Greally, Water Operations Lead with Uisce Éireann thanked the people of Castlerea and surrounding areas for their patience and assured customers that crews are doing everything in their power to restore a normal water supply as quickly as possible.
“These night time restrictions are necessary to help us ensure customers have a daytime supply tomorrow.”
He appealed to homes and businesses to help conserve water by not running taps needlessly, taking showers instead of baths and to postpone using dishwashers and washing machines where possible.
Customers are also urged to check water.ie and or report loss of service or visible leaks to assist Uisce Éireann to identify bursts.
