RSG’s Annual Memorial Mass

County Roscommon Disability Support Group (RSG) will celebrate its Annual Memorial Mass for all service users, families, friends, board of management and staff members in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Derrane at 12 pm on November 21st.

  Families and friends of the deceased are welcome to attend this Mass. Refreshments will be served at the Resource Centre in Derrane immediately afterwards. All welcome.

Rosary recital in Kileenan Graveyard

The Rosary will be recited in Kileenan Graveyard at 2 pm and in Ardcarne Graveyard at 3 pm on Sunday, November 4th. All welcome.

Book launch in Ballintubber

Mary Timoney will launch her book ‘Ballintubber Old Graveyard and Grave Memorials of Co. Roscommon’ in the Old Schoolhouse, Ballintubber on Wednesday, October 31st at 7 pm. Mary will also give a short lecture and refreshments will be served.

Strokestown Comhaltas AGM

The Strokestown branch of Comhaltas AGM will take place this Friday (26th) at The Percy French Hotel at 8 pm. All members are asked to please attend and new members are most welcome.

Coffee morning for HHT awareness

A coffee morning in aid of Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia (HHT) Ireland will take place this Friday (26th) from 11 am to 1 pm in Gleeson’s Townhouse, Roscommon town.

  HHT is a condition which leads to malformed blood vessels in multiple organs of the body. It can result in serious health problems if not diagnosed and treated. 

  Among the most obvious symptoms are frequent and unexplained nosebleeds. It is the aim of the organisers to raise awareness of HHT and to provide support for the people affected the condition and their families. HHT Ireland is a voluntary organisation and registered charity which was set up in the memory of the late Grace Nolan and the late Paul Woods.

  All are welcome to the coffee morning at Gleeson’s this Friday.

Ladies Lunch for Hospice

The Mayo/Roscommon Hospice Ladies Lunch event takes place on Sunday, November 25th at 1.30 pm in the Abbey Hotel, Roscommon town. The day will include a warm punch, Prosecco and mince pie reception, followed by a four-course festive lunch with wine.

  The event will also include a fashion show, showcasing the latest looks for the party season ahead with music, raffle and lots of fun on the day.

  The guest speaker for the event is former President of Ireland, Mary McAleese. Tickets available online at www.hospice.ie. All are welcome.

‘Spooktacular’ Fancy Dress in Lisaniskey NS!

Lisaniskey NS Parents’ Association is hosting a ‘Spooktacular’ Kids’ Fancy Dress Halloween Disco in Clooneycolgan Community Centre on Sunday, October 28th from 5 pm-6.30 pm. Admission is €3 or €10 for a family of four or more. All are welcome!

Special Healing Mass in Curraghboy

A Special Mass for Healing will take place at Our Lady Star of the Sea Prayer Centre, Curraghboy, Athlone on Thursday, October 25th at 8 pm.

  The celebrant will be Fr. John Walsh. Confessions will be available prior to the Mass and individual blessings will take place afterwards. All are welcome. Contact 086-4054489.

RSG Christmas Fair on November 25th

Roscommon Disability Support Group (RSG) is holding its annual Christmas Fair on Sunday, November 25th from 11 am to 4 pm in the Dale Centre, Derrane, Co. Roscommon.

Lisnamult monthly draw winners

Winners of the Lisnamult monthly draw for October were: Sr. Margaret Killian (€100), Una Glynn (€100), Fergal Cormican (€50), Marian Costello (€25), Josephine Somers (€25), Josephine Kilmartin (€25).

Roscommon Garden Club meeting

The next meeting of the Roscommon Garden Club takes place on Monday, November 5th at the Abbey Hotel at 8 pm. Guest speaker is Dominica McKevitt, head gardener at Ardgillan Castle, Dublin.

  Dominica has always had a passion for gardening and attended the horticulture college at An Grainain. She has since spent most of her career at Ardgillan where she works with a team of gardeners on 194 acres. 

  Dominica is also involved with the Naul Gardening Club, Skerries Photographic Society and Balrothery History Association. This year, Dominica and well-known florist Christopher White won a Silver medal at RHS Chelsea Flower Show for the Naul Gardening and Flower Club. This is a talk which is not to be missed.
