Search and Rescue Church Gate collections
The Roscommon Underwater Search & Rescue Unit will hold their annual Church Gate Collection at Castlerea, Trien, Cloonbonniffe, Lisacul, Loughglynn, Gorthaganny, Fairymount, Ballaghaderreen, Derrinacatha, Brusna, Tibohine, Ballinlough, Granlahan, Cloonfad, Ballintubber, Ballinaheglish and Rooskey Churches this Saturday and Sunday (January 5th and 6th).
All monies collected will go towards the maintenance of the unit. We would like to thank you all for your generous support in the past and hope that you will be able to support this collection.
Funding for local animal welfare groups
Funding of almost €3m for 108 Animal Welfare organisations nationwide has been announced by Agriculture Minister Michael Creed.
Senator Frank Feighan has welcomed news of the funding, which includes the following local allocations: Athlone & West Midlands Spa, Dysart, Co. Roscommon (€5,000); Roscommon SPCA, Castlerea (€20,000); TMR Mount Talbot, Roscommon (€3,000); FairyGlen Community Animal Sanctuary, Arigna (€10,000); Leitrim Animal Welfare Centre (€17,000); Sathya Sai Sanctuary Trust, Castlebaldwin, Co. Sligo (€13,500); Little Wings Bird Sanctuary Banada, Co. Sligo (€3,000) and Precious Paws Sanctuary, Gurteen, Co. Sligo (€3,000).
Local Mental Health Forum at Regari
The Roscommon Local Mental Health Forum will be held on Monday, January 14th 2019 from 6 to 8 pm in Regari, The Lodge, Athlone Road (adjacent to Roscommon University Hospital).
The forum will be a regular monthly meeting and the purpose of the local mental health forum is to gather the views and experiences of those using mental health services, and those of their family members and carers in order to bring about positive change within the mental health service.

Healthy Ireland at your library
As part of the Healthy Ireland at Your Library programme, the following events will take place this January at Roscommon Library:
Thursday, January 10th from (7 pm-8 pm): Beginner’s Pilates for adults, with Goretti Dwyer; Tuesday, January 15th (6.30 pm-8 pm): Understanding Stress & Building Resilience, with Paul Marsden; Tuesday, January 22nd (6.30 pm-8 pm): Getting a good night’s sleep, with Paul Marsden; Tuesday, January 29th (6.30 pm-8 pm): Beginner’s Yoga for adults, with Avril Mullally.

The Friendship Circle – every Sunday
