Frances is guest speaker at next Garden Club meeting

Roscommon Garden Club’s next meeting will be held in the Abbey Hotel, Roscommon on Monday, 25th of February at 8 pm.

Last summer the club travelled to Wexford for a two-day trip, visiting gardens in the area. In Camolin, we were delighted to visit the Bay Garden, which is a two-acre garden surrounding an 18th century farmhouse which has been developed over the past 20 years. The present owners, Frances and Iain MacDonald, have patiently restored the house and garden.

What started out as a neglected orchard and field has been transformed into an array of different garden areas. You can appreciate the massive knowledge of plants, the careful planning and the excellent design as you make your way around this spectacular garden.

Both Iain and Frances MacDonald are qualified horticulturists and Frances has been involved in all aspects of gardening for over 40 years. She lectures on gardening and writes a column in the Irish Garden magazine. She trained in the National Botanic Gardens in Glasnevin and met her husband Iain while working in the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew. They moved to Wexford in 1981 and established a successful design and landscaping business. They also find time to take guided garden tours all over the world.

The topic of Frances’ talk will be ‘All Year Interest in your Garden’. This is another meeting of the Roscommon Garden Club which is not to be missed!
