Annual Hospice coffee morning

The Mayo/Roscommon Hospice will host its annual coffee morning today (Thursday 7th) from 11.30 am to 3 pm at Castlerea Garda Station. All welcome and all proceeds in aid of the Mayo/Roscommon Hospice.

Christmas Floristry Workshops at Ardcarne Centres

Christmas Floristry Workshops are to take place at Ardcarne Garden Centre, Boyle & Roscommon Town on Saturday, 9th of December (11 am to 1 pm) and on Sunday, 10th of December (2 pm-4 pm.

Ballaghaderreen Christmas Car Boot and Craft Market

This year’s Ballaghaderreen Christmas Car Boot & Craft Market takes place on the 9th of December from 10 am until 3 pm, in the SuperValu shop units.

  We have a range of stalls booked, and are pleased to announce that Santa will be in his grotto meeting the children from 12 pm-2 pm with a complimentary tea or coffee and mince pie for their parents.

  We still have a few spaces available at a cost of €15 so could anyone wishing to book a stall please contact Linda on 089-4447788.

Byrne and Morley Monument Fund presentation

The Byrne and Morley Monument Committee would like to welcome everyone to The Village Inn, Loughglynn, on Friday, 8th of December 2017, at 10 pm, where money that was left over from the Byrne and Morley Monument Fund will be presented to the Roscommon/Mayo Hospice.

Carol Singing

The pupils of St Cóman’s Wood Primary School, Roscommon, and some of their parents, will be carol singing outside Tesco in Roscommon on Friday, 15th of December from 10 am-2 pm.

  They will be collecting on behalf of the parents’ association. Come along and join in the festive atmosphere and support our school at the same time.

Agricultural Show says thanks

The Roscommon Agricultural Show Society would like to thank all sponsors for their generous support in 2017. The society would also like to thank all members and everyone who helped in any way throughout the year. Special thanks also to the local media for their coverage.

  The society’s annual get-together will take place this Saturday (9th) at 9 pm in Hannon’s Hotel in Roscommon Town. All are welcome and the society hopes to see you there. Roscommon Agricultural Show Society wishes you all a Happy Christmas and a prosperous 2018.

Christmas Carol Singing

Christmas Carol Singing takes place at Ardcarne Garden Centre, Boyle on Saturday, 16th of December (3-4 pm). Join Ilse Lubbers and the Serendipity and Nightingales Choirs for an un-missable festive performance, with special guests on the day. Donations will go to the Roscommon-Mayo Hospice.

Fundraiser for PARKRUN

Efforts are being made to get PARKRUN up & running in the grounds of Strokestown House with the kind permission of The Irish Heritage Trust. These events are held worldwide taking place at 9 am on Saturday mornings, and are timed events open to all ages.

  While taking part is actually free there is an initial outlay to get the event up and running, and so the following fundraisers are being held:

  A Pop-Up Shop is set to take place on Friday the 15th of December from 10 am-4 pm, with the kind permission of Roscommon County Library and our local Branch Librarian.

  A cake sale will take place on Sunday, the 17th of December after 11.30 Mass in the Church Hall.

Roscommon Sub Aqua Club: Bucket Collection

The Roscommon Sub Aqua Club volunteers would like to sincerely thank everyone who so generously donated on Saturday, 2nd of  December.

  We received some lovely comments from members of the public and the weather was good to us too.

  We would also like to take this opportunity to thank those who support the Roscommon Sub Aqua Club on an ongoing basis. The club depends on these funds.

Historical Society AGM

A meeting of the Co. Roscommon Historical & Archaeological Society will take place on Tuesday, December 12th at 8 pm in The Percy French Hotel, Strokestown. Following at 8.30 pm the AGM of the Society will be held. All members are requested to attend.

  A short talk will be given by Albert Siggins, Secretary of the Society on the theme of two landlords in Co. Roscommon, Frances Coningsby in the 18th century and Martin McDonnell, merchant and Poor Law Guardian in the 19th century. All are welcome.

Solstice Choir to perform in Aughrim/Kilmore

The Roscommon Solstice Choir will perform for the parish of Aughrim/Kilmore on the 17th of December at 7 pm in Dangan Church. This is a ticket event and if people wish to buy a ticket please contact 087-9652581.

Winter Wonderland in Loughglynn

Loughglynn Community Centre will be transformed into a Winter Wonderland & Christmas Market on Sunday, December 10th from 12 pm-4.30 pm. There will be a wide selection of crafts, food stalls, gift ideas and much more on the day. Santa Claus is on his way and he will be there to meet all the children in Loughglynn.

SPCA Christmas street collection

Roscommon SPCA will have their annual Christmas street collection in Roscommon Town this Friday (8th). 

  The association are looking for volunteers. If you can spare an hour or two, it would be much appreciated. All monies raised will go directly to animal welfare in County Roscommon.

Castlecoote Tidy Towns night out!

Castlecoote Tidy Towns will hold a party night in PJ’s of Castlecoote this Saturday night (9th). This is a celebration of the achievements down through the years and all are welcome. There will be music, food and fun on the night and it promises to be a wonderful night out in the run-up to Christmas.
