‘A Lone Furrow’ at Arts Centre
A full-length play telling the story of Aleen Cust, Ireland’s first female veterinary surgeon will feature as part of this year’s Roscommon Lamb Festival.
The dramatised account of her life and times will also feature her fight for recognition by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. The play was written by Tommy Murray and produced by Tom Costello and Brigeen Fitzmaurice with Roscommon Drama Group.

Divine Mercy Sunday at Sacred Heart
This Sunday (28th) at 3 pm, Divine Mercy Devotions will take place at Sacred Heart Church, Roscommon town. Everyone welcome.
Sale of Work in Ballygar Courthouse
A Sale of Work will take place this Sunday (28th) at Ballygar Courthouse (beside the church). Items such as clothes, bags, shoes, household goods, toys and jewellery will be on offer. All items will cost €10 or less and proceeds will go towards TNR (Trap, Neuter, Return) Roscommon, helping homeless cats in the community.
Tea and coffee will be served and there will also be a raffle on the day. All welcome.
Church gate collection for Samaritans
Athlone and Midlands Samaritans are having a church gate collection this Saturday and Sunday (27th and 28th) in Roscommon town, Kilteevan, Fourmilehouse, Derrane, Cloneycolgan and Cloverhill. All support appreciated.

Macra celebrates 75th anniversary
Macra na Feirme celebrates its 75th anniversary this year and to mark the milestone Roscommon Macra will be hosting a commemoration event on Sunday, May 5th, which will provide a unique opportunity for members, past and present to gather together for a reunion.
The event will be launched at 9.30 pm tonight (Thursday) in Hannon’s Hotel. A book will be published nationally to mark the milestone through a series of photographs and Macra is seeking your memorable photos from any era for consideration. Family Fun Walk for Lisaniskey NS
Lisaniskey NS Parents’ Association is hosting a Family Fun Walk at 12 Noon on Bank Holiday Monday (May 6th). Entry fee is €5 per individual or €10 per family. The route starts at the school and finishes at the hall where refreshments will be provided. This event is organised in conjunction with Lisaniskey NS, ‘Active School’ week and Oran GAA Healthy Clubs Committee. Please come out and support, all are welcome!
