IHF Mobile Health Unit to visit Library

The Irish Heart Foundation Mobile Health Unit will visit Roscommon Library on Wednesday, April 24th from 10 am to 5 pm. Don’t miss out on your chance for a free blood pressure check with an Irish Heart Foundation nurse. 

  Roscommon Library will also host free Community CPR training sessions for adults in Roscommon Library on Friday, May 3rd. There are a small number of places remaining for the 2 pm session – register for a place by logging on to www.HandsforLife.ie. Leader’s community food information sessions

Roscommon Leader Partnership is holding information sessions to gauge the level of interest in expanding its community food services programme throughout Roscommon and surrounding areas. 

  Remaining information sessions will take place in Frenchpark Parochial Hall on Thursday, April 18th at 5.30 pm (north Roscommon) and Bush Hotel, Carrick-on-Shannon on Thursday, April 18th at 8 pm (north and east Roscommon).

  RLP Development Officers will be available at each workshop to discuss the project ideas. The workshops will include details of the survey being circulated across the county in relation to meals and wheels service. Roscommon Leader Partnership is undertaking this survey to establish if there is a need to extend the meal delivery service that is currently offered in certain parts of the county.

The Dawn Chorus at Creggs NS

Join renowned environmentalist Gordon D’Arcy to listen to the Dawn Chorus on Satuday, April 27th from 5.30 am to 6.30 am. Meeting at Creggs National School and tea/coffee and scones will be served.

Fundraising dance for IMNDA in Tuam

As one in the series of ‘Della’a Benefit Dances’, a fundraising dance in aid of the Irish Motor Neurone Association will be held in the Ard-Rí House Hotel, Tuam on Bank Holiday Monday (May 6th) from 3 pm to 6 pm as usual, with music by Jimmy Hynes and the Crusaders.

  All support for this worthy cause would be greatly appreciated, since any funds raised would help the Association in assisting those suffering from the disease, including local man, Maurice Sirr, Ballymoe (formerly Derryvode, Williamstown). Maurice is well-known over a very wide area because of his work as a videographer and photographer, from his base in Roscommon town.

Roscommon Garden Club meeting

The next meeting of the Roscommon Garden Club takes place on Monday, April 29th at the Abbey Hotel, Roscommon town and will start with a ‘Spring Plant Sale’ at 7.30 pm. Following this, Kevin Begley of Coolwater Garden in Co. Limerick will deliver a talk.

  A former soft drinks wholesaler, Kevin transformed his gardens in 2009 and will be showcasing them whilst giving a talk on their development on Monday, April 29th. A presentation not to be missed!

Free CPR training in Derrane

RSG Flexible Learning College, in association with the Irish Heart Foundation and the ‘Hands for Life’ campaign, will host a free one hour CPR training session on Friday, 26th April at 10 am, 11.30 am and 2 pm in the Dale Centre, Derrane, Co. Roscommon.
