AGM of Ballintubber Community Alert There was a good crowd at the AGM of Ballintubber Community Alert which was held in the Old School on Wednesday, April 9th. Superintendent Sean Warde, Castlerea, Bernie Kearney of Muintir na Tíre, Sgt. Tom O’Connor Castlerea and Garda Liaison Officer Tom Cunningham attended and addressed the meeting. The importance of Community Alert was stressed by Supt. Warde and other speakers. The group was complimented on being active for over 16 years and the Superintendent wished them luck in the years ahead. A good committee representing each station area was elected. The officers and committee will work together with the local Gardaí in trying to keep the area safe for all who live in it. The importance of contacting the Gardaí if concerned or worried about strange activities was stressed by all speatkers and particular attention should be paid to strangers selling items from door to door. The following officers were elected – Chairperson: Anthony Waldron, Vice Chairperson: Bernie McGann, Secretary: Mary O’Gara, Assistant Secretary:  Rose Moran and Joint Treasurers: Eileen Moore and Claire Murray. Ballymurray Bridge results The following are the results of the Ballymurray Bridge Club pairs competition for the 31st March and the 7th April. 1st M. Naughton & K. Gately. 2nd K. Blighe and F. Neilan, 3rd K. Walsh and D. Cox. First session M. Lough and A. Hewitt, 2nd session J. McGrath and S. Melia. Glenamaddy Bridge Club Glenamaddy Bridge Club continues on Monday nights at the Community Centre at 7.45 p.m. New members welcome – a wonderful season ahead!  Bridge Classes organised by the Bridge Club ongoing on Wednesdays in the Community School at 7.30 pm. All interested are welcome. Organic gardening course There are still places on the organic horticulture course at Croghan Organic Garden. Two sessions are available, both on a Wednesday. The afternoon course runs from 2 pm until 4 pm and the evening course is from 6.30 pm until 8.30 pm. Both courses are led by organic gardening expert Klaus Laitenberger and are open to complete beginners or improvers, indeed, anyone interested in increasing their knowledge of growing vegetables and fruit the organic way.
