Body toning in Glinsk The next six-week body toning course commences in Ballincurry ball alley, Glinsk on Wednesday April 16th at 8.30 pm. This is low impact class, suiting all fitness levels, concentrating on toning and strengthening the body, which in turn helps to speed up the metabolism. Improved accessibility at Boyle train station Frank Feighan TD has been informed by Iarnród Éireann that following rescheduling of train services, the second platform at Boyle Rail Station will now be made wheelchair accessible ‘The new accessibility is independent of the footbridge and features access to the station on the south side of the line via the Greatmeadow entrance. The upgrading work which is in the course of being completed, will allow for greater volumes to use this side of the station and will be a welcome addition, particularly for people with disabilities.’ Glenamaddy Community Games meeting A general meeting is being held on Thursday, 10th April at 7 pm in the Community centre in Glenamaddy. The aim of the meeting is to organise the upcoming track and field, boys and girls’ soccer and Gaelic football events, which will be held on Sunday 20th April. This is a lot of work for one small committee, so it is imperative that they get help from the parents. Don’t leave it to someone else! Quiz raises funds for Mantua pre-school Scott’s pub Carrowreagh, Ballinagare, was the venue for a very successful pub quiz held on Friday, 28th March to raise funds for Mantua pre-school services. The quiz was very well-attended and showed the support of the locality for the pre-school. Organisers this week thanked sponsors and in particular Property Solutions Cregg, main sponsors on the night. Plans are now well advanced for a much-needed after school service in the area and it is hoped to launch the service in September. The pre-school was initially set up with its main objective to provide a quality service to the parents of the locality and also with a view to attract more pupils to the school. Six months on, the project has been a resounding success. The success of the pre-school is largely due to leader Mrs. Therese Rodgers who has brought a high level of enthusiasm and professionalism to the job and the active parents committee. Mantua NS offers excellent opportunities to pupils, having a low pupil-teacher ratio and it is centrally located between Frenchpark, Ballinagare, Tulsk, Elphin and Ballinameen. Enrolment forms for September are now available from the school and an enrolment evening will be held on Friday, April 25th from 7 pm to 8.30 pm.
