Ballinagare Soccer Camp The FAI Summer Soccer Schools camp for Ballinagare is almost full, so please contact fai.ie or telephone 1890 653 653 to reserve a place. The soccer camp is from 21st to the 25th of July. Please note bookings cannot be taken on the week of the camp. Ballintubber Community The committee of Ballintubber Community Alert wish to thank all who contributed to their recent church gate collection. The amount received was €505. Ballintubber Tidy Towns Great work has been done recently getting flower beds and tubs planted. Help will be needed with watering and weeding. The weekly clean-up takes place every Monday at 7 pm. People on the approach roads are asked not to dump grass cuttings on the roadside. Hospice thanks Mayo/Roscommon Hospice would like to sincerely thank all the volunteers who gave of their time on National Sunflower Days, 13th and 14th June, to raise funds for the palliative care service. Thanks were also extended to all who gave so generously to the cause and to all the various outlets who allowed the volunteers to sell sunflowers at their premises on those days. The support is greatly appreciated. All funds raised locally stay local and will go towards supporting palliative care services in the community. The service is free of charge to all who need it and it is now also available for pain and symptom control in patients with other non-malignant conditions such as Motor Neurone, Muscular Dystrophy and MS. Peer support training completed at Melting Pot Training for Roscommon Peer Support Programme was completed recently in the Melting Pot. Certificates were presented to volunteers who participated in the training. Volunteers will befriend a person experiencing a mental health difficulty on a one-to-one basis. There is an excellent opportunity for anyone who has used the mental health service in the past to volunteer. Thanks from the Friends of St. Luke’s On behalf of the friends of St. Luke’s Hospital, Brid Healy, Goretti Kenny, Ann Jackson and Louise Broder this week thanked most sincerely all who supported them in their recent fundraising which raised a grand total of €38,500. The ladies recently thanked those who hosted, took part in table quizzes, the bed push, tea party, duck swim and various shop door/bag pack collections. They also thanked all who attended the functions, helped out or gave money and spot prizes and those who sent cheques or helped out in any way big or small to make this project a huge success. The project was inspired by the above named having lost someone close to them to cancer and especially Goretti Kenny who lost her husband Noelie to cancer three years ago.
