New York dinner dance

On Saturday, February 9th, Roscommon Football Club of New York will hold its annual dinner dance in Rory Dolans, 890 McLean Avenue, Yonkers. Music will be provided by Roscommon’s own Mary Gibbons and the Shamrocks.             Guest of honour on the night will be Ollie Hoare. Ollie has played for Roscommon since he went to New York in 1993 and had a great season in 2007. He has also held many positions at club level. A native of Roscommon town, he now lives in White Plains with his wife Aurora and four-year-old son Liam. Ollie works in the financial district of New York as Applications Manager with AIG investment company.             This year the Anne Fitzmaurice Memorial Award will be presented to John Lyons. The award is presented annually in recognition of success or distinction. John is a very successful businessman and has held many positions in the club, including Chairman. John and his wife Breda are owners of the popular McKeon’s bar and restaurant on McLean Avenue. A native of Portrun, John and Breda and their daughters Siobhan and Deirdre live in New City, Nyack.             Other recipients on the night will be clubman of the year John R.
