Ballaghaderreen native David Creighton has taken to the airwaves, becoming a sports reader with a new radio station i102-104 which is aimed at young people. His is not the only Roscommon voice on the airwaves of the new station which serves the north west. Fergal D’Arcy from Ballinasloe hosts the afternoon show iGoHome. Tommy Tiernan and Hector Ó’hEochagáin, who will present a weekly Friday afternoon show on the station, were the first voices on air at the launch last Friday. ‘Brewing Up a Storm’ by The Stunning was perhaps an apt choice for a station that is brewing up a fresh new sound for the North West. Chart topping Irish band, The Coronas, were also on hand to launch the station and played an acoustic set live in studio. The brand new station will be the first dedicated radio station for young people in the North West region and will broadcast to Galway, Sligo, Mayo, Leitrim, Longford, Roscommon and Donegal. The station will be music driven and will focus heavily on listener interactivity, combining interactive news and discussion programmes in a varied programme schedule.
