New IBAL litter league launched

The 2008 Irish Business Against Litter league was launched recently and organisers noted that the state of approach roads into some towns is bringing down the town’s overall rating.             Roscommon town finished in 14th place in last year’s league and was deemed ‘clean to European norms’. While nationwide litter levels have improved by 30 percent in the past five years, in Roscommon the improvement has been 34 percent.             ‘We are moving towards a litter free environment,’ comments Tom Cavanagh, ‘More than twenty towns and cities achieved this designation in 2007.’ The first results of the 2008 IBAL Anti-litter League, comprising 55 towns and cities, will be made public next month.
