The HSE is to build a new Networking Centre of Excellence in Ballaghaderreen, according to Sinn Fein councillor Michael Mulligan. This, he said, is great news for Ballaghaderreen and West Roscommon. ‘The new centre will be a modern health care facility which will facilitate the integration of all local community care services in the area plus 24-hour seven-day doctor service and x-ray department where people can have x-rays taken without having to go to the County Hospital. ‘It will also provide 4-6 bed residential unit for people on long-term stay in hospital. The centre will be built on a new Greenfield site of approximately 5 acres. ‘This is a big improvement on what the HSE had planned for the area two years ago, with not even a brief on the Ballaghaderreen area prepared. ‘This will go ahead and I am delighted to be a part of it,’ Cllr. Mulligan concluded.
