Geraldine O’Sullivan has been appointed as the new IFA Farm Forestry Development Officer. Ms. O’Sullivan brings six years professional forestry experience to the IFA Farm Forestry Section. Prior to her new position with IFA, she worked with SWS Forestry Services as Biomass Development Manager, focussing primarily on the wood chip production systems. From 2003 to 2006, Ms. O’Sullivan worked with Donegal County Council as Forest Link Coordinator. Commenting on her appointment, Ms. O’Sullivan said, ‘I am looking forward to working with all parties in the forestry industry to ensure that the private forestry sector achieves its full potential. These are exciting times for the sector, and with the right support forestry has the potential to become one of Ireland’s foremost agricultural enterprises.’ Ms. O’Sullivan, who is originally from Limerick city, graduated from NUI Maynooth in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science degree and earned a MscAgr (Forestry) from University College Dublin in 2002.
