New €250,000 electric mobile library planned for Roscommon

Roscommon County Council is planning a new fully electric mobile library for the county at an estimated cost of €250,000.

The local authority is seeking the design and supply of a purpose-built electric vehicle which will be used to provide mobile library services throughout County Roscommon.

The new vehicle will be built on a fully electric chassis and will include a specially designed library body with walkthrough access from the driver’s cab.

The mobile library will be designed to carry books and other library materials while providing an accessible service for communities around the county.

Mobile libraries play an important role in bringing library services to communities and residents who may not have easy access to one of the county’s permanent library branches.

The proposed new vehicle will be fully electric, representing a move away from conventional fuel-powered vehicles for the service.

The overall project has an estimated value of €250,000, with a proposed contract duration of 13 months.

The closing date for submissions from prospective suppliers is October 28.
