New clerical roles for Rooskey native

Rooskey native Fr. Tom Healy, synonymous with the massive St. Mel’s Cathedral renovation project in Longford, is on the move!

Long-time Administrator in Longford, Fr. Healy has been appointed Parish Priest in Mostrim (Edgeworthstown) and has also been appointed as Diocesan Secretary and Financial Administrator for the diocese of Ardagh and Clonmacnoise. He took up his new roles last Friday, September 1st.

Fr. Healy grew up in Rooskey, Co. Roscommon (where he attended the local national school) and also lived in Strokestown for a number of years.

Ordained to the priesthood in 1986, Fr. Healy had served for thirty years in Longford town. In recent years he played a key role in the St. Mel’s Cathedral restoration project after the historic building was destroyed by fire shortly after midnight Mass had been celebrated there on Christmas morning 2009. The €30m re-building of the Cathedral was completed within five years.
