New appointment for Terry

It was announced this week that Senator Terry Leyden has been elected Vice-Chairperson of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE) Group in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE). ALDE is the 3rd largest political group in PACE, and the largest in the European Parliament. The group is the European affiliate of the Fianna Fáil Party.   Senator Leyden was elected to the position on Monday of this week at a meeting of ALDE at the April Session of PACE in Strasbourg. The Senator is now a member of the Bureau, or governing committee, of the ALDE Group in PACE.   Speaking after his election Senator Leyden said that ‘It is a great personal honour to be elected to the position of Vice-Chairperson, as well as an honour for Ireland and for the Fianna Fáil party. I have always been an enthusiastic European and I will continue to further Ireland’s position in Europe, and the interests of all Europeans.’
