The news that tenders to provide office accommodation for the Property Registration Authority in Roscommon are due this month has been warmly welcomed by local TD Denis Naughten. In a Dáil response from the Office of Public Works Denis Naughten was informed that ‘it is expected that the successful applicant will be selected in December and instructed to apply for planning permission’. ‘This move is a positive development and it is now anticipated that work on the building, which will house the decentralised Property Registration Authority, will be completed by 2009,’ explained Deputy Naughten. "I now hope that the Department of Finance and the Office of Public Works closely monitor this project to ensure that it is delivered on time and that the Property Registration Authority (Land Registry) will be ready to complete its decentralisation as soon as the building becomes available. ‘In the interim there is adequate office accommodation available for the Property Registration Authority to continue with its decentralisation programme and it should not be dependent on the completion of the building project," stated Deputy Naughten.
