Naughten welcomes €14m for N61 safety works

Minister Denis Naughten has confirmed that a €14m road safety scheme has been approved for the N61, which “will save lives and boost the local economy”.

The news follows Transport Infrastructure Ireland’s decision to approve 11 road safety schemes to a value of over €136m.

Minister Naughten said: “As well as improving safety, this investment is part of a plan to link both the new N5 from Scramogue to Ballaghaderreen and the N4 via Boyle, to the M6 at Athlone.

“This announcement will improve the road infrastructure in the county and will assist in attracting investment and supporting existing employers throughout County Roscommon”.
