Naughten: ‘Over €108k for local youth clubs’

Minister for Communications, Climate Action and the Environment, Denis Naughten, says  youth clubs in Roscommon-Galway are set to receive €108,725 in Government funding that will help towards improving their facilities and activities.

The Minister for Children Katherine Zappone announced a total national allocation of €1.79m under the Government’s Local Youth Club Grant Scheme this year.

Minister Naughten said: “This funding will mean smaller volunteer-led youth clubs across Roscommon-Galway will be in a position to reach and benefit more young people across the two counties. The Local Youth Club Grant Scheme 2018 is open to new entrants so I am encouraging clubs to apply through the Galway and Roscommon Education and Training Board”.

Minister Naughten said that the successful volunteer-led community youth groups working on the ground across Roscommon-Galway are working to improve the health and well-being of our young people while helping to prevent anti-social behaviour and providing much needed support, guidance and friendship to young people.
