National AGM

Delegates and observers from the Roscommon Community Games Executive Committee attended the HSE Community Games National AGM, held last weekend at West County Hotel, Ennis, Co Clare. Plenty of lively discussions about a number of issues took place, one being the move from Mosney to a new venue for the All Ireland finals. This will mark the beginning of changes over the next two years, within the organisation. A special committee has been formed to look into suitable venues around the country and it is hoped that the end of 2008 ‘home’ will find a new, so that agreements and arrangements can be finalised and completed enabling competitions to take place in 2010.   A new Board of Directors was elected with some members re-elected to previous positions and Michael Curley elected as the new National President. County Games: Activities are continuing throughout the County with the Chess tournament taking place on Monday 3 rd March starting at 7pm at Ballinameen Community Hall and the Draughts tournament being played at Kilbride Community Centre on Saturday 8 th March starting at 3pm. The Table Tennis tournament is the following day, Sunday 9 th March at Ballinameen starting at 3pm. These results mean that the semi-finals being played on 2 nd March will be: Tulsk Vs Douglas Hyde, Strokestown Vs Drum/Clonown. The finals will take place later in the day. Birth Certificates: As registration for the Connacht finals must be in by 10 th March 2008, all winners of the various activities are reminded that they must have their birth certificates lodged with their area secretary, or with them, when they are taking part.
