A man in his twenties has died following a single vehicle road traffic collision involving a motorcycle in the Kilmartins’ Roundabout area of Athlone in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene following the crash which occurred on the Dublin Road at approximately 2.20 am.
The Kilmartins’ Roundabout was closed for a time while a forensic investigation was carried out.
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward. Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the Kilmartins’ Roundabout area of Athlone between 2 am and 2.30 am are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.
